Our Story
why we started whole heart cacao
When I was younger, my grandfather suffered a heart attack. I found myself thinking differently about long-term health and the role everyday nutrition can play over a lifetime. I wasn't searching for a miracle food — I simply wanted to better understand the choices we make every day.
That curiosity led me to ceremonial cacao and, eventually, to the growing body of peer-reviewed research investigating cocoa flavanols and cardiovascular health.
As I learned more, I realized something surprising: while cacao has been enjoyed for centuries, products made with exceptional, high-quality cacao — minimal processing, no preservatives or emulsifiers, and thoughtful sourcing — were hard to find.
Whole Heart Cacao was created to change that by providing a trusted source of exceptional-quality cacao I'm proud to use myself, and to share with people I love.
